This week, GenWest's Women Deliver 2026 Scholarship Program recipients gathered with our Resilient Communities team and our CEO, for a pre-conference session to share, learn and grow together.
For the first time, the global Women Deliver Conference will be hosted, in Narrm (Melbourne) from 27 to 30 April, 2026. GenWest have awarded nine community leaders from across Melbourne's west and Ballarat access to the conference as well as pre and post conference mentoring and support.
This week, Mai Nguyen, Amao Leota Lu, Mehak Sheikh, Yi Zhu, Huong Truong, Musarrat Saiyed, Alex Constance, Anna Lado, and Audrey Umuti, gathered with our Resilient Communities team and Dale Wakefield - CEO GenWest, for a special pre-conference session to share, learn and grow together.
Wennie van Riet, Project Lead - Climate Resilience, has led the coordination of the scholarship program and shared, "Hearing the stories of these women was a moving reminder of why we do this work. From driving social justice and gender equality to advocating for the economic empowerment of women and climate justice, each of these leaders is a force in their local community. These scholarships aren’t just about attending a conference; they are about amplifying local voices on a global stage. By connecting community leaders from Melbourne’s West, we make sure that the conversations happening at WD2026 are rooted in the lived experiences of our local diverse communities."
The Women Deliver 2026 Conference (WD2026) is more than a conference, it’s a rallying point for feminist solidarity, resistance, and reimagination.
A huge thank you to the donors who made this possible. This initiative was funded by a generous donation from GenWest, alongside the support of three other dedicated donors who believe in the power of community leadership.
From Wennie, "We are so ready to share our insights, stories, learn and grow alongside global feminist leaders at the end of April. We can’t wait!"
